Announcing the International Robothon Competition 2023 and launching Leanbot robot designed by DTT Technology Joint Stock Company

On 08/11/2022, Eduspec Holdings Berhad announced that the International Robothon Competition 2023 will be held in March 2023 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), after 2 years of suspension due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, the national qualifying round of the competition was held in Asian countries including Vietnam in February 2023.

Robothon is an annual themed STEM Robotics competition for students in Asia organized by Eduspec Holdings Berhad (Malaysia) for the past 17 years at the city, national and international levels. The goal of the competition is to help students explore real-world problems today, with innovative solutions based on integrated knowledge and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). In Vietnam, DTT Eduspec Joint Stock Company has hosted Robothon for the past 10 years. The contest received the participation of over 10,000 contestants from 500 clubs and 150 schools across the country. Up to now, Vietnamese students in 88 teams have been honored to win high awards at Robothon International.

The difference of the International Robothon Competition 2023 is the Organizing Committee has decided to add a completely new Leanbot competition category, along with two “Grand” robot categories still used for students to compete for many years, LEGO Mindstorms EV3 and VEX IQ. It is expected that 6 countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam with 1,000 students (aged 8-16) in the region will participate in the Leanbot contest. Vietnamese students will focus on competing for the Leanbot category in both national and international rounds.

Leanbot is a unique and innovative set of Robotics learning tools with Digital Twin simulation technology connected to the educational Metaverse, integrated with online and offline learning experiences. Leanbot is a product manufactured in Southeast Asia, designed by DTT Technology Joint Stock Company.

According to Mr. EH Lim, Chairman of EHB Education Group, who has 20 years of experience in international STEM education development: “Leanbot is an amazingly groundbreaking educational product in the field of STEM Robotics education so far. It is comprehensive in both design philosophy and educational philosophy, integrating blockchain, IoT, Cloud, A.I, Digital Twin and also Metaverse.”

Leanbot helps teachers and students pursue their passion for programming, unlimited creativity and can learn online anywhere anytime. Virtual Space learning activities are unlimited to inspire children, measure learning progress, and equip them with global knowledge and competencies. In addition, the design thinking and learning by doing methods help students practice robotics skills, computational thinking, programming to solve topics related to global problems; thereby forming Global Competences oriented towards the development of global citizenship in the Digital Age that the United Nations offers.

Participants are students who have completed the Robothon competition training program organized by DTT Eduspec Joint Stock Company and registered to participate in the National Competition at schools/centers affiliated with the Company, including the following 2 age groups:

Students from 8-12 years old: Beginner level, Blockly programming language

Students from 11-15 years old: Intermediate level, C++ programming language.

The candidate’s task is to apply STEM Robotics knowledge and skills to program and control the robot to optimally complete the tasks as required. Specifically, in the international round, candidates have the following 5 tasks:

    1. Collect Moon Bricks from Ore deposit

    2. Deliver Moon Bricks to Refinery

    3. Establish Satellite Communication (Satcom) signals

    4. Activate Solar Plant

    5. Oxygen Extract.

It is expected that there will be 6 countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam with 1,000 students in the region participating in the international competition in the Leanbot Category. Vietnamese students will focus on competing in a Leanbot Category for both national and international rounds.

  • ROBOTHON 2023: Second Earth

The first ever Leanbot Robothon is happening in March, 2023.

    Theme: Space Colonization

Space Colonization (also called space settlement or extraterrestrial colonization) is the hypothetical permanent settlement and exploitation of natural resources at celestial objects other than Earth. As such it is a form of human presence in space, beyond human spaceflight and operating space outposts. Building colonies in space or in other planets would require a combination of many factors, including access to space, food, construction materials, energy, transportation, communications, life support, and others.
